Woody the Woodpecker

Thanks to Netflix, my girls are hooked on re-runs of The New Woody Woodpecker Show, one that I can honestly say I rarely watched as a kid.  These days, that’s all I hear from my youngest…, “I want to watch Woody Woodpecker!”  Meanwhile, the real-life woodpecker, the Pileated Woodpecker frequents our ‘backyard.’  (Thank you online sources, Mom, and my handful of bird books, for informing me the Pileated Woodpecker inspired the creation of the cartoon character, Woody.)  I have noticed that there are usually two Pileated Woodpeckers out there.   When they show up, they are quite difficult to photograph.  (At least for yours truly…the amateur.)  Still, alligators and snakes aside, I have ventured out into the yard on numerous occasions to try to capture a clear shot of this bird.  So here you go!  Four photos turned out among the multiple blurry ones…  This is all I’ve got, people.  Enjoy!
